At the end of the show, everyone should be filmed attempting to eat the same death curry from last year:

At the Intel booth discussing the Tegra K1. Awkward...
  • Krysto - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

Are you saying Anandtech gets paid by Intel to talk only about Intel?

What a preposterous thing to say!
  • icrf - Monday, January 6, 2014 - link

I don't mind that you do video shows, but 99% of the content is just audio. Pretty please don't give up on the podcast, even if you just release the video feed's audio as a podcast. I really enjoyed those and have been missing them these last three months. They're much more convenient to listen to while I work.

I second this request - I travel a lot and much prefer offline/low bandwidth/eyes free delivery. I had a poor experience with the last show due to bad wifi in a European hotel.

This.... But either way I'm glad we are getting something!
  • Wade_Jensen - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

Agreed, as temptingly luscious as your face is Brian I'll be in a lucky-to-even-get-3g area for the next 3 days, an audio option would be appreciated guys. Anyway, keep up the awesome work, looking forward to your thoughts on Intel's Edison platform.

    Agreed!
  • purerice - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

I generally hate jumping on bandwagons but I agree, audio version is preferable.
Though if you had some slides/graphs to discuss with the interviewees and put those up as visual in your video that would be sweet.

    Yes, audio please!

Australia doesn't have unlimited download and even smaller amounts of mobile data. Being able to keep it on the device is a big deal.

Due to the recent Youtube only ones, I only get to find time to listen/watch the shows about twice. Podcasts usually 4+.
  • Wade_Jensen - Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - link

Apparently ces doesn't have unlimited upload either... :/
  • klmx - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

Thanks for being so Europe-proof, guys. I love staying up deep in to the night just so I can hear some dudes talk about technology
  • Drumsticks - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

...you're complaining about people in Las Vegas doing an interview mid-day in Las Vegas instead of at 3AM in Las Vegas during a trade show? I'm sorry time zones exist, but deal with it.
  • nathanddrews - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

I think he's complaining that it is video and not audio-only (podcast). Either way... how do you make the rolling eyes smiley?
  • nathanddrews - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

Ask Intel if they plan to adopt "FreeSync" support for their IGPs.
  • Wade_Jensen - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

Ok. Mobile questions first, then intel ones.

    Mobile.

Merrifield is stated as 1.7x performance and 2x graphics, is this over Medfield, are those figures still accurate and will they be smartphone only SoCs? How does Hermann feel the platform will compare in terms of graphics to chips named after a certain mythical creature, which come to market at the same time. Please, no comparisons to n-2 gen competitor chips. (Please filter this question a little btw)

At the investor meeting last year Hermann said Aicha was able to bring xmm 7260 forward by a few months. Has she been able to pull of any more miracles? When should we expect Merrifield design wins to come to market w and w/o intel modems? Still 1H'2014?

Could Hermann talk about Bay Trail design wins in the android tablet space and are there more coming this quarter?

Is Hermann able to give us an update on SoFIA and whether its on schedule. Could he (I doubt he can reveal it) tell us what 3rd party process it will be made on?

    Intel questions.

I would really like to know about this dual os platform and how it is achieved. Is this the same platform Asus' Transformer Book Duet uses? They claim it is done without emulation or virtualization.

Is Hermann able to give us an update on Intel's work with x86 android and its optimisation and are they building android 86 in 64 bit like I think I heard Krzanich say in the keynote. These two Q's might go together.

Maybe not something Hermann can answer but: Will broadwell and be including hardware decode for h.265? Also for anyone reading, is this codec more power efficient than h.264? I know Anand has expressed reservations about the efficiency of haswell video decode.

Wearables. Again not Mobile, but no hurt in asking.

I assume what Krzanich demonstrated last night were reference platforms: the watch, the earpiece and the smart senor blanket. Does this mean intel is constructing a platform in wearables the same way it has with processors and standardised chipsets in the PC market, giving OEMs a much needed framework to take in their own directions and add on their own IP and sensors, allowing them to use Edison for whatever ultramobile or embedded solution they want? That was what I felt was implied in the presentation.

Thats my two cents, thanks Anand, and to intel for putting you guys up
  • Computer Bottleneck - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

Adding to the two SOFIA questions above, Is Herman able to tell us if a docked SoFIA phone will be fast enough to run x86 desktop apps including Office apps? (Libre Office, Open Office, etc.)

I hope someone from Anandtech stops by the Razer booth. I'm very curious about what is really going on with Project Christine, and the coverage from other sites has been very superficial and lacking technical detail.

I'd like to know whether Razer is really modularizing the entire motherboard chipset and providing plug-and-play CPU upgrades, and whether this will scale to future CPU generations...

Please discuss if you would Intel's plans for smartwatches, as well as general thoughts on smartwatches in 2014. So far there hasn't been a smartwatch I think is worth buying, but I am excited about the category. Do you think we will see better offerings from that form factor this year?

    1. When will a full solution for baseband radios be available for phones with Intel chips?
    2. Customers want to have the latest version of Android asap after it is announced. Is it Intel's priority to update drivers accordingly for new versions of Android for all chips and chipsets?
  • silenceisgolden - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

    1. Does Intel like NFC? Is there an alternative that Intel would rather use?
  • hrrmph - Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - link

I'll second that one. Put bluntly, when is Intel going to stop crippling their otherwise fine computing products by not taking the expansion and integration of the chipset stuff more seriously?

    Baseband?

    All USB 3.0 ports?

    All SATA 6.0Gbs ports?

    WiFi-AC?

When do we get it all integrated onto an SOC?
  • eiriklf - Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - link

So when is the youtube version coming?
  • Mondozai - Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - link

Some major flub went down. Anand's saying bandwidth is limited etc but it smells like lies. There are multiple tech sites who have done several podcasts, and many of them uploaded it to Youtube at 720p quality, and all from CES.
  • twizzlebizzle22 - Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - link

Which other techsites do podcasts; looking to widen my horizons. The verge.
  • klmx - Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - link

Yeah not sure what's going on over here. No coverage of the Intel keynote at all, the uploading of this podcast (if they did it through Youtube Live then it should be up automatically? Maybe they did it through whatever Intel used to stream their livestreams)
