I have three words. Music. Spectrum. Analyzer.

Please, Corsair, give me that. Don't care how awkward it is on a qwerty layout, I just need this in my life.

That sounds awesome. I'll pass it on. ;)
  • SeleniumGlow - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

    I'll second that.
And if I can have keys highlighted according to the DAW software shortcuts or maybe even 3D modelling and rendering software (like Maya/3dsMax) shortcuts, they'll be very handy.

    I can't DISagree with you...

But I have a coloured keyboard on my M18x R2. It was fun for 5 minutes.

But then you end up just leaving it on one colour (blue for me).

Keeps my God-son entertained, but he is 10.

    :)
  • extide - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

Yeah... but that isnt RGB *per key*..
  • GokieKS - Monday, January 6, 2014 - link

Wish they would make a MX Clear keyboard instead. If they did I'd even be willing to pay the extra cost for the completely absurd and useless (to me) backlighting system.

...I'm pissed, now. Spent an absurd amount of money on a K95 not that long ago because there was nothing on the market like this. Now they come out with this, and I would've bought whatever mechanical keyboard had this, whatever brand. Sure hope they might let me sidegrade/upgrade when I have to RMA my keyboard for failing backlights, which seems a problem with the K95. Anyone know how good Corsair's customer service is?
  • Dustin Sklavos - Monday, January 6, 2014 - link

"OH NO I BOUGHT AN AMAZING KEYBOARD AND NOW THEY'RE COMING OUT WITH AN EVEN MORE AMAZING KEYBOARD THE BASTARDS"

I'm still rocking my K90 after I spilled water on my K95. Jesus wept.
  • garadante - Monday, January 6, 2014 - link

Keyboards have nowhere near the short product cycle life as most other computer components. I'm fully aware of product cycles. But this sudden turnaround is frustrating. Hoping they'd do a sidegrade considering I'll need to RMA it someday anyway.

Don't you expect, after every electronic purchase, that something new will come out sooner or later? Besides, it's going to be either Q3 or Q4 before the Cherry MX RGB switches will show up in the keyboards.
  • frostyfiredude - Monday, January 6, 2014 - link

I quite like my Razer Blackwidow, which I did intend to keep for a long time when I bought it 1.5 years ago, but damn it if this is released in a matte design and doesn't cost an absurd amount I'll be buying one of these pronto. So many useful configurations will be available using the colours.
  • editorsorgtfo - Monday, January 6, 2014 - link

Yes! I want a keyboard that will spell out in lights "GAME" then "OVER" every time I die.
  • Rjak27 - Monday, January 6, 2014 - link

I've never understood keyboard backlighting, especially with Cherry MXs.

If you need to look at the keyboard, then the quality of keyboard isn't going to help you any.

That goes for typing and gaming.
  • Dustin Sklavos - Monday, January 6, 2014 - link

It looks neat and gives you a way to personalize your system.

I was pretty skeptical until I got my M17x R3, but being able to show up to a LAN party with the only laptop glowing magenta is pretty satisfying.
  • Mr Perfect - Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - link

It's purely cosmetic. Same reason why people spend $100 on a new set of keycaps for their Cherry MX boards, just because they have some cool design and they don't mind spending money on it.
  • pierrot - Monday, January 6, 2014 - link

Yessss Ive been waiting for this - but dammit Computex is June? I just hop ethey keep it simple and dont ruin it by going too crazy

I have the K95 and the keys definitely need more physical feedback. In fact, the feel is much worse than non-mechanical keyboards, as the Cherry Reds don't have any click at all to them.

I grew up on IBM keyboards, the ones with actual springs in them, and they are so good, with perfect feedback. I wish there were something like that.

Corsair also needs Mac drivers. I use the K95 and M95 on Mac for Starcraft exclusively. (Don't play anything else.)

The M95 meanwhile misses a lot of clicks. Something weird going on there.
  • MadMan007 - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

There are buckling spring clones from a company that bought the rights from IBM: Unicomp. http://www.pckeyboard.com/

Or Cherry Blues if you want audible and distinct tactile feedback, Browns if you want non-audible and somewhat soft tactile feedback (especially if you are ham-fisted with the keyboard) but with a perfectly equal activation and reset point.
  • Ian Cutress - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

I use blues, mainly because that's the sort I grew up on (old Commodore C64 hand), also as a writer I like an audible feedback when I type a key. It means I definitely know when I've typed it.
  • Dustin Sklavos - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

I like reds for general purpose (my desktop at home), but for pure work I vastly prefer blues. I have an MX Blue K70 coming in here soon for a screenwriting build; I love the audible feedback, it SOUNDS and FEELS like work is getting done.
  • Araemo - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

I used a keyboard with CherryMX Red switches for a week - typo'd to hell and back. Swapped to blacks and I've been very happy with them. But finding a keyboard with blacks is difficult.

This actually sounds like my ideal keyboard:

(Clears would be a possible second choice, but they're also difficult to find.)

"I have the K95 and the keys definitely need more physical feedback. In fact, the feel is much worse than non-mechanical keyboards, as the Cherry Reds don't have any click at all to them."

They're not supposed to click. You need to buy the key board with the switches you like You do know there are 4 different types that have different clicks or non clicks to them, right? However I have tries the red and they do in fact click just not as loud as the others. But that's what most people seem to like. To each his own.
  • vFunct - Monday, January 6, 2014 - link

Also the backlighting doesn't light up enough of each key - the number keys don't light up the special characters, for example.

And the K95 M keys need to accept shift/alt/control modifiers.

But yah the actual "click" feedback on the keys are needed.
  • NavasC - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

It's impossible for the lighting to light up the whole key - You can't center the light because that's where the switch is, so the light has to be above the switch, offset from the center.
  • just4U - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

OMG... it's a Lite Brite in a keyboard.. mechanical no less... must... have!
  • piiman - Saturday, May 31, 2014 - link

LOL yea its basically useless (although depending on the software I might find a use) but it looks so damn cool! :-)
  • L33k - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

Please let the people at Corsair that we want "tournament" style keyboards too. I would love this keyboard in a Ten Key less fashion like the Quickfire TK where the number pad it integrated with the arrows and 6 key section. Please Anand let the Corsair peeps know this!

    WE ARE WATCHING

    ;)

...seriously, I e-mailed the PMs about the equalizer and per-game lighting profiles. So trust me, WE SEE ALL.
  • piiman - Saturday, May 31, 2014 - link

Other than using it to decorate at Christmas time :-) per-game lighting profiles is a must for this.
  • JNo - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

Just noticed that the numbers in the top row aren't lit up, only the symbols above them (just like my K70). I hope they can sort that out as the numbers are, most of the time, more important then the symbols... Sounds small but it's weird seeing the symbols with no numbers....
  • KITH - Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - link

With respect to the Cherry switches, they all have springs. They aren't of the buckling variety...
  • i7 - Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - link

When are they going to sell it ?!?!?! Very nice!
  • Mr Perfect - Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - link

There will be a large market for this in a tenkeyless format, but they probably already know that.

The only other things I'd suggest is to please maintain standard ANSI key layout! Having unique key arrangements is something manufacturers try to differentiate on, but it make the board's use very specific.
  • shannonstanko - Thursday, January 9, 2014 - link

I LOVE this idea, not for any functional reason but simply because it is pretty, unique, and customizable. I use two K70's currently, silver for the office, black/red for home gaming, but I would have bought one of these if they had been on sale. I think there is potential in this product that will only be discovered when released into the hands of the creative public. Oh, and design a software keyboard configuration option so people can share their configurations.
    Thanks! You make great products.
  • DAVe3283 - Thursday, January 16, 2014 - link

Corsair: Please make the K95-style (18 dedicated G-keys) with the MX-RGB and the Cherry Blue switches.

I have a K90 and two K95's. The K95 is amazing (which is why I bought two). Add MX Blue switches, and I will buy 3 on launch day. If you can keep it below $200 per keyboard, I'll buy 4.

I hope you are still watching these comments! This announcement makes me itch for some MX Blue action :D
  • bttorrent - Thursday, March 6, 2014 - link

Hey, look, it's the fag flag on a keyboard, Corsair is GAY!!!
  • GlassDeviant - Tuesday, June 17, 2014 - link

What would be even nicer is if you could find this keyboard anywhere to buy it.
  • __whitey__ - Wednesday, July 16, 2014 - link
