Oh god, shut up about the watch already Apple. No one wants one and no one cares.
  • jameskatt - Tuesday, June 14, 2016 - link

About 15 million Apple Watches sold the first year generating $10 Billion for Apple with very high consumer satisfaction. Speeding up the Apple Watch with WatchOS 3 by 7x is a big deal.
  • dsumanik - Friday, June 17, 2016 - link

7x the speed of a turtle is still slow as fuck! Also, quoting sales numbers and consumer satisfaction quite literally outs you as viral commenting shill trying to manipulate stock prices...like 90% of the internet account snow.

    Fail harder next time?

Did anyone catch what the oldest Macs are that will run Sierra? A blog says late 2007 iMac but i swear what apple put up there said 2010 or later.
  • Ryan Smith - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

    iMac & MacBook: 2009
MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, Mac Pro, & MacBook Air: 2010
  • jameskatt - Tuesday, June 14, 2016 - link

Looks like Apple supports Macs up to 7 years old. That"s a pretty long lifetime for a computer.
  • fanofanand - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

    BOOOOOOO!
  • fanofanand - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

I can't stand that you post these in reverse chronological order. How does the engineer in you get away with this?
  • Daniel Egger - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Agree, especially if you're trying to catch up from the bottom and the page erratically jumps up half a page like a rat on Dr. Pepper...
  • mkozakewich - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

It's one way or the other. If the posted at the bottom, people would have to continuously scroll instead of just letting it sit. They're giving precedence to the people watching the stream.

It's annoying having the page jump down as I'm typing this, though.
  • Daniel Egger - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

So? There're easy fixes for all the problems: the top-update, the jumping and the lack of interest in manual scrolling.
  • fanofanand - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Or a button to pause live updates like WaPo has in their comments section? Surely the minds at Anandtech could figure this out....
  • Daniel Egger - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Oh shit. If my mother-in-law hears about the new messaging gimmicks that's going to be a long session until she knows how to use all of them by heart...
  • name99 - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Ah, the good old "Search Results Bill Graham Civic Auditorium"! (12:39pm)
Is that like "AT&T Park" or "Citi Field", only with Google as the naming rights sponsor :-)
  • Spoony - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Meanwhile my iMessages can't seem to arrive reliably, or in the correct order.

I was not sure if that keynote was a troll or not. I guess it's over to Android for me.
  • Spoony - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

    APFS?!?!?! There is hope!
  • name99 - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Are you SURE that you have the same (full set) of Apple monickers enabled on all your devices?
The most common case is that you don't configure your iPhone and iMac to share your phone number, so messages sent to an email address go to the Mac and phone, but those sent to the phone don't go to the mac.
  • Spoony - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Oh yea, that's not the problem. Sometimes they arrive, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they're in order, sometimes they aren't. Whenever I launch the Messages application on my Mac it randomly reorders the manually sorted sidebar.
  • jaydee - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Did they really need to gather a huge crowd to announce watchOS now has a feature specifically for people in wheelchairs? Voicemail transcribing (Googlevoice has had it for what, 6 years)?. Siri on desktop? No one wonder they buzzed through through everything fast, they didn't want anyone to take time to realize there's almost no substance to anything they're talking about today. They could have tweeted this stuff.
  • Wolfpup - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Honestly the security/privacy stuff is the coolest to me.

I'm a bit worried about them letting third parties plug in to their various programs...seems like that's a security issue waiting to happen, but I hope I'm wrong.
  • cyberfrost - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

New Macbook Pro? Looks like we have to wait till fall this year.
  • SirKnobsworth - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Would be nice to know about it, but I think they usually refresh around September either way.
  • Meteor2 - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Machine learning, at that level, *on device* is pretty incredible. Basically how the hell do they do it??
  • drainplugofideas - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Hehe, I liked this live blog. Very funny!
  • pencea - Monday, June 13, 2016 - link

Pathetic, it's been over two weeks and yet still no review for the GTX 1080, while other major sites have already posted their reviews of both 1070 & 1080.
  • Ranger1065 - Tuesday, June 14, 2016 - link

So many slides, so few comments, so much wasted space. Does anyone really care? Apparently not at Anandtech. Another step towards obsolescence.
  • The_Assimilator - Tuesday, June 14, 2016 - link

Yup, Anandtech has officially jumped the shark. They should just rename themselves to MobileTech at this point, because that seems to be their (or should I say Purch's) focus. Endless reams of Apple and Android crap get the click-throughs and the page-views, not tech-savvy users.

It's sad because AT is the only place I know of that does architectural deep dives. I only hope that the authors responsible for those will find more reputable outlets to publish their work.

Oh, and before an AT staff member pops up to whine about "illness" or "delays" or some other BS: can it. Two weeks (and counting) is unacceptable in the tech industry, regardless of how good the eventual article is. Publish the review early, publish the deep dive later, but for God's sake publish SOMETHING.
  • fanofanand - Tuesday, June 14, 2016 - link

one only needs to look at the number of comments on a particular article to see where the audience interest lies. After roughly 24 hours there are 27 comments on this thread, half of them complaints about format or other articles that have yet to be written/posted. For the new AMD GPU, there were well over 300. We (your loyal audience) don't give a rat's azz about Apple, they haven't innovated in years! We get 20 page write-ups on a size shrink of the iPad, but nobody cares! Purch are you listening? WE DON'T CARE ABOUT APPLE!
  • pencea - Wednesday, June 15, 2016 - link

It's funny, one of the staff of AT Ryan just replied back to one of my comments in this article
"investigating-cavium-thunderx-48-arm-cores" article. his only respond was "It'll be done when it's done."

Simply pathetic and unacceptably late for something that should've been posted weeks ago.
  • HOOfan 1 - Tuesday, June 14, 2016 - link

It's actually been 4 weeks since the NDA lifted on the GTX 1080
  • The_Assimilator - Tuesday, June 14, 2016 - link

Guru3D already has 2 custom 1080 and a custom 1070 review up, in addition to their reviews of the Founders' Editions of both cards. That's 5 Pascal reviews to Anandtech's ZERO. Absolutely shocking for a "tech" website.

Focusing so much on pressure sensitive touch for iOS 10 is a "clever" way to encourage people to buy more iPhones, since only the iPhone 6s generation supports it.
